Acting President of Pakistan Farooq H Naek on Saturday postponed the National Assembly session, scheduled to be held on Monday, August 9, 2010. According to a senior official, the 24th session of the Assembly has been postponed owing to the tough engagements of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, the cabinet members as well as the parliamentarians owing to the flash floods hitting most parts of the country.
According to a notification issued from National Assembly Secretariat, "In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Acting President has withdrawn the session of National Assembly summoned on Monday 9th August, 2010."
