Assessing flood losses: arrangements finalised to conduct survey, says Shahbaz
Punjab Chief Minister (CM), Shahbaz Sharif has announced that arrangements have been finalised for conducting a survey to assess losses in the flood hit areas and the process will be started as soon as water subsides. This was revealed in an information release of DGPR, here Saturday.
The CM was addressing flood affectees in Chachran Sharif, Rojhan, Mithankot and other areas of south Punjab during the day. The CM said besides property and crops, the government would also compensate losses to livestock as far as possible. He said he would personally supervise process of payment of compensation and distribution of financial assistance like he was monitoring relief activities so that the rights of the poor could be safeguarded.
He said Punjab Police could rightly take pride in its performance with regard to evacuation of the marooned people including children, elderly persons and women. He thanked government officers and officials on behalf of himself and the people for serving the distressed people with commitment.
Shahbaz directed that aerial spray of germicides should be conducted in those areas of DG Khan Division where there was a threat of outbreak of epidemics in the wake of flood. He said all out resources of Punjab government were available for mitigating the sufferings of the flood-affected people.
During his visit to the medical camps, the CM met doctors and paramedical staff individually and called upon them to serve the people with a missionary spirit. When he was informed that most of the doctors and nurses were working round the clock, he said they would be rewarded by Allah Almighty. The CM, on his return to DG Khan, again visited the relief camps which, he had inspected two days ago. He expressed satisfaction over the improvement of facilities in the camps.
