A caravan consisting of lawyers and representatives of civil society left for Islamabad on foot here on Saturday from GPO Chowk to press their demand for the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui and all missing persons. Representatives of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Lahore High Court Bar Association and Lahore Tax Bar Association besides members of civil society led the caravan from GPO Chowk.
Female lawyers also participated in the caravan, which will reach Islamabad on August 14 to present a memorandum to government officials in front of parliament building. Secretary SCBA Raja Zulqarnain speaking on the occasion said more lawyers and people will join the caravan on its way to Islamabad. He was of the view that political parties were not playing their due role on the issue of missing persons because they had pledged country's sovereignty to America.
