Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Muhammad Aslam Tareen has stressed the need to formulate a well co-ordinated strategy to combat the menace of terrorism and has said that the basic purpose of establishing 'mohalla committees' is to enable police access to information at the grass root level.
He said officers and officials performing their duties with dedication and efficiency would be encouraged, whereas strict accountability of few black sheeps in the police department would continue unabated. He was addressing a meeting of police officers held at Capital City Police Headquarters, Lahore, here on Sunday. The CCPO said he would not tolerate inefficient, dishonest and lazy police officers in his team and provision of prompt justice to the citizens, on the basis of merit, would be ensured at all costs.
He observed that no society could develop in any walk of life unless it ensures provision of security, justice and merit to all his citizens. Police is the custodian of life and property of the people and it should strive hard to perform its duties with utmost dedication. In this regard, he disclosed that a comprehensive course of action has been adopted to control crime and to ensure capacity building of police personnel by making professional training more effective. Lahore police is using facilities of the latest technology to eradicate crimes from the city, which has borne positive fruits, he added. Tareen directed police officers to conduct foolproof survey of their respective areas and ensure effective patrolling of localities, where crime rate is higher, by deputing additional police personnel.
