National Highways & Motorway Police, Pakistan Baitul Mall and NHA Tuesday set up a joint donation camp to collect donations for flood victims from road users. Chairman Pakistan Baitulmal Zamurd Khan, GM, NHA Imran Yousafzai and SSP Motorway police Sajjad Afzal Afridi jointly started the donation by picking the box and requested the road users to donate.
A large number of people responded to this joint request. In few hours almost 10-11 lack rupees were collected for flood victims as donation. The students of different schools also participated as volunteers. Ayutullah Durrani, Minister of State also participated in the joint effort.
Later on all the officers of three departments held a press conference. Zamurd Khan said that they have first time set up such type of camp for donation and people have very actively responded, adding that thousands of people were affected and the government alone cannot meet the challenges of flood victims, therefore, the nation must have to respond. He requested the NGOs, the teams of doctors and volunteers to come forward and help the people in distress.
Ayatullah Durrani said that people should act jointly by forgetting the political, ethnic and social issues because the people of flood victims required their dire need, requesting all nations of the world to waive the loans of Pakistan. Imran Yousafzai said that it is a good joint effort to help flood victims, requesting other organisations to come forward for the sacred cause.
Sajjad Afzal said that from the first day they are connected with the flood victims and on the directions of IGP, the people who were residing near Motorway were rescued by the officers of Motorway police and saved hundreds of lives and property.-PR
