'Supply of medicines to Muzaffargarh, Layyah continues'

Health Depart-ment Punjab has ensured continuous supply of medicines to the flood affected districts for extending uninterrupted medical relief to the people of the flood-affected areas. The Health Department on Monday sent two trucks of medicines including gastro-enteritis, malaria, skin disease and anti-biotic medicines to Muzaffargarh and Layyah districts.
A spokesman of Health Department informed that Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Association Punjab (PPMA) has also donated medicines worth hundreds and thousands of rupees, which are being sent to MSD Multan from where these medicines would be dispatched to the flood-affected areas as per their needs.
The spokesman further said that doctors have, so far, treated 144487 patients in the flood hit areas and 695589 packets of ORS have also been distributed to the people for protection from diarrhea and gastro-enteritis. Moreover, 57 people given anti-snake venom whereas, 119 people have been administered with the anti-rabies vaccine. The number of mobile medical teams and medical relief camps have also been increased, the spokesman concluded.
