Though the prices of daily-use items have skyrocketed before the month of Ramazan, due to reduced supply from upcountry following the country-wide floods, City District government Karachi (CDGK) has issued notification for fixing prices of different items on Wednesday.
Through a notification No EDO/E&IP/PC/507/2010 dated August 9, following a notification No P&M15 (15)/97 dated 06-11-2010, issued by the Ministry of Industries and Production, District Co-ordination Officer/Controller General of Prices and Supplies, Karachi, Fazl-ur-Rehman has notified the retail prices of Mutton and Beef in the limits of Karachi with immediate effect and until further orders.
According to the notification, the government has fixed the retail price of Rs 440 and Rs 415 per kilogram for Mutton Quality No 1 and 2 respectively while the price for Beef with bones, Beef without bones, Calf (Bachiya) Quality No 1 and Calf (Bachiya) Quality No 2 has been fixed as Rs 220, Rs 250, Rs 260 and Rs 255 per kilogram.
Through another notification No EDO/E&IP/PC/508/2010, the retail price of nimko items, like Samosa both (Qeema and Aloo Bara) cooked in vanaspati ghee/oil has also been fixed between Rs 72 to 108 per dozen as per the quality. The same thing cooked in desi ghee would be charged at Rs 144 per dozen. The highest price of mix Pakoray, Khajla, Pheni, Pheeki Jalebee and Jalebee has also been fixed at Rs 200, Rs 190, Rs 190, Rs 171 and Rs 152 per kg respectively.
The CDGK through notification No EDO/E&IP/PC/518/2010 dated August 10, has also allowed the retail price of Rs 147, Rs 142, Rs 130, Rs 127, Rs 129, Rs 97, Rs 107, Rs 102, Rs 122, Rs 117, Rs 96, Rs 92, Rs 84, Rs 82, Rs 61, Rs 56, Rs 87, Rs 79, Rs 72, Rs 54, Rs 52, Rs 67, Rs 62 and Rs 44 for grocery items like dal mash dhuli No 1, dal mash dhuli No 2, dal mash chilka kali, dal mash sabit, dal mong dhuli No 1, dal mong dhuli No 2, dal mong chilka, dal mong sabit, dal arker No 1, dal arher No 2, dal masoor No 1, dal masoor No 2, dal masoor sabit No 1,dal masoor sabit No 2, dal channa No 1, dal channa No 2, kabli channa No 1, kabli channa No 2, kabli channa (small), kala channa No 1, kala channa No 2, basen special (nimcq), basen dal channa No 1, and basen dal channa No 2 (mix) respectively.
The price list for different kind of rice like karnal basmati export quality, karnal basmati No 1, karnal basmati No 2, basmati No 1, basmati No 2,karnal basmati sella special, karnal basmati sella No 1, karnal basmati sella No 2, basmati sella No 1, basmati sella No 2, basmati super spl tota, basmati super tota No 1, basmati super tota No 1, basmati tota No 2, eri-6, eri-9 sindh, joshi, basmati (386), karnal basmati, basmati sella no 2, gur no 1 and gur no is as follows Rs 92, Rs 82, Rs 77, Rs 72, Rs 64, Rs 87, Rs 80, Rs 77, Rs 60, Rs 49, Rs 58, Rs 48, Rs 42, Rs 32, Rs 35, Rs 39, Rs 47, Rs 72, Rs 67, Rs 78 and Rs 70 per kg respectively.
The retail price fixed by the government for spices also ranges from Rs 8 to Rs 206 per 100 gram while the price of dry fruits range from Rs 9 to Rs 121 per 100 gram. In miscellaneous items like tea Danedar number 1 and 2, tea mixture blend Kenya and milk powder (full cream) were also to be sold at retail price of Rs 362, Rs 352, Rs 322 and Rs 312 per kg respectively.
The retail price of dates, like Muzafati Special (Carton), Muzafati Quality No 1 (Carton), Muzafati Quality No 2 (Loose Carton), Jan sore, Panjgor, (Loose Carton), Basra Iraq (Zahidi Katta), Asee Sukkur, (Wood Carton), Muzafati Makran (Tin pack), Begum Jangi (Makran) Victor and Mix Dates (Chattai Victor) has also been fixed at Rs 170, Rs 150, Rs 105, Rs 105, Rs 90, Rs 95, Rs 100, Rs 60 and Rs 40 respectively per kg by the CDGK through another notification No EDO/E&IP/PC/510/2010. According to the notification the dates would not be sold in packets of 100, 200, 400, 800 grams and others.
Through another notification the price of breads has also been fixed at Rs 20, Rs 40, Rs 60, Rs 20, Rs 40, Rs 130, Rs 84, Rs 120 and Rs 30 for Sada Double Roti 250 gram, Sada Double Roti 500 gram, Sandwich Double Roti 900 gram, Meethi Double Roti 250 gram, Meethi Double Roti 500 gram, Papey 1 kg, Sada Ban a Dozen, Fruit Ban a Dozen, and Karak Patra Roti 400 gram respectively.
Following the notification the Enterprise and Investment Promotion Department (E&IP) of CDGK has also issued the price lists to the wholesalers and retailers for the month of Ramazan. It is to mention here that E&IP department is primarily responsible for distributing the price list free of cost and displaying the price list prominently at shops is necessary for the wholesalers and retailers.
