In a deadly spate of targeted killings in the 'city of lights' recently, more than 80 people lost their lives. The city, industrial hub of the country, home to millions of people from all over the country and lifeline of economy, was left at the mercy of armed men, looters and arsonists.
Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) were there, and in many places, witnessing all the chaos, but were silent, most probably because they didn't have 'orders' to act against those turning the city into hell. On the other hand, when all of this was taking place, coalition partners of the government were busy in playing blame game and 'point scoring' over dead bodies.
The government has miserably and horrendously failed in maintaining law and order. While even the 'sugar issue' catches eye of the well awake and revived judiciary, I appeal to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice and conduct fresh, transparent probe into targeted killing.
