Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Federal Minister, Ministry of Population Welfare visited Tehsil Tangi this Monday with the senior officials of MoPW, and inaugurated Iftaar Programme for the flood affectees of Charsadda. On this occasion, Iftikhar Durrani, Chief Executive Officer, NATPOW, Pak-Turk Delegation and civil society members distributed food among 617 flood-affected people of village Tangi in Charsadda.
The affectees are in need of shelter and food and are living in local schools of the area. Addressing the villagers, Dr Firdous said, "Charsadda has been the worst flood-hit district, statistics show that 80 percent of the local population has been affected. Around one million people in Charsadda district have been affected by the flood."
Iftikhar Durrani, Chief Executive Officer, NATPOW said his organisation, along-with MoPW, has put in place cost effective, transparent & proficient model, with the help of which administrative/overhead expenses have been reduced and reporting mechanism has been established for better accountability. NATPOW is trying to utilise 292 mobile service units across the country to reaching the flood affectees, he added.-PR
