Soneri Bank Limited has posted Rs 186.353 million as after tax loss in the half year period ended June 30, 2010 as compared to after tax profit of Rs 38.648 million in the corresponding period in 2009. The board of directors of the bank in its meeting held on Monday declared that bank has recorded loss per share of Re 0.32 in the period under review against earning per share of Re 0.08 in the same period a year back.
According to financial results sent to Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), the bank's mark-up/return/interest earnings increased to Rs 4.934 billion in this period against Rs 4.723 billion in the same period last year. The bank's mark-up/return/interest expenses increased to Rs 3.535 billion against Rs 3.329 billion. The bank's total non-mark-up/interest income stood at Rs 610.494 million against Rs 603.946 million while the total non-mark-up/interest expenses increased to Rs 1,222.082 million against Rs 937.266 million. The bank registered Rs 312.696 million as loss before taxation in the first half of 2010 as compared to before tax profit of Rs 46.453 million in the same period last year.
