Lub Gas (Private) Limited and Mehran LPG (Private) Limited has announced that Ex-Plant LPG price in Punjab is Rs 77.12 per kg, while in Khyber Pakhtoonkwah/ Fata/AJK is Rs 77.12 per kg and in Sindh price of LPG is Rs 71.19 per kg.
According to the press release the purpose of this public service announcement is intended to remove some of the confusion surrounding LPG prices. LPG marketing companies provide product to retailers. These retailers are supposed to have a gross margin of not more than Rs 6 per kg. Current retail prices are as follows, according to our information Multan, Rs 120 per kg, Sahiwal Rs 120 per kg, Lahore, Rs 110 per kg, Gujranwala, Rs 120 per kg, Faisalabad, Rs 120 per kg, Sialkot, Rs 120 per kg, Peshawar, Rs 120 per kg, Karachi Rs 80 per kg.
As above, the gross margin for LPG retailers is supposed to be Rs 6 per kg. However, the gross margins for LPG retailers are currently as high as seven times the permitted ones. Multan, Rs 42.88 per kg, Sahiwal, Rs 42.88 per kg, Lahore: Rs 32.88 per kg, Gujranwala, Rs 42.88 per kg, Faisalabad, Rs 42.88 per kg, Sialkot, Rs 42.88 per kg, Peshawar, Rs 42.88 per kg, Karachi, Rs 8.81 per kg.
The margins being charged by LPG retailers are unfair and unreasonably high. Parties who have chosen to raise prices during Ramazan and while the country battles the worst humanitarian crisis it has seen must be identified and put right. Retailer-end gross margins of this degree (higher than the margins of any other in the value chain) are highly unethical. This needs to be curbed immediately.-PR
