Relief activities continue

Flood relief camps on behalf of various political parties, NGOs and traders organisations remained active on Thursday amidst rains for onward supply to the flood affected people across the country. The floods have caused huge devastation throughout the country and left millions displaced and starving.
"At this hour of need political parties, NGOs and traders associations have come forward to play their part in relief activities and donated food items and other necessary articles worth millions of rupees for the flood affectees,' said representatives of various political parties, NGOs and trader organisations, while talking to Business Recorder here Wednesday.
PML-N traders wing spokesman Mian Shafqat said that they have so far donated almost Rs 15 million and established a camp named "Dastarkhwan" in Kot Addu to provide food for almost one thousand besieged in flood hit areas through out the whole month of Ramadan.
He further disclosed that they have dispatched 6 trucks with relief goods to those areas with buckets comprising of flour, pulses, rice and various daily use products. Every bucket weighs nearly 12 to 13 kilograms containing ration of almost one week for about two thousand families. These contributions were made mainly by traders of Mall Road and Hall Road.
One should participate in this noble cause to extend relief to the flood stricken people, Mian Shafqat said and added that this natural calamity should not be politicised for political gains rather it's the dire requirement of the time that serious measure should have to be pursued in order to bring our brothers back to their lives for the sake of Pakistan.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has also established relieves camps through out the city and have collected nearly Rs 70 million. PPPs district President Zahid Zulfiqar while talking to Business Recorder told that they have dispatched 20 to 22 trucks fully loaded with food items to flood affected areas mainly to Layyah and Kot Addu through their party's channel.
Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Youth Wing representatives have only 1 camp in Lahore which has collected more than 0.2 million. Their representative Mian Azhar said that they have dispatched 1 truck towards DG Khan and have organised visits of various party's representatives.
Al Khidmat Foundation representative Hafiz Rashid told Business Recorder that they have established 35 camps through out the city and have collected Rs 6.5 million. He said that they have dispatched 2 trucks with worth of 10 millions having food items as well medicines.
They have established Al Khidmat Dastarkhwan in Layyah, Kehrorpukka and RajanPur providing food in sehri and iftar to almost eighty thousands affectees. He further said that they have established 74 medical camps in affected areas of Punjab with 52 ambulances and relieved 48 thousand patients.332 vehicles were there to transport affectees to save areas.
Pakistan Generation Foundation, Shagufta Yasmeen Welfare Society, National Inter Religious Harmony Council, Al Furqan Trust and Minhaj-ul-Quran were also actively participating in relief activities especially through their own channels.
Anjuman-e-Tajran Pakistan Lahore President Khalid Parvez disclosed that Urdu Bazaar Traders have donated almost Rs 3 million in addition to their 2 days income for flood affectees. The traders of Urdu Bazaar have dispatched 12 trucks comprising relief goods through Army in Layyah, Muzaffargarh, DG khan and flood hit areas near Multan. Three more trucks were being dispatched on Wednesday, he added. He said that relief goods include rice, cooking oil, milk, water, and biscuits for almost two thousand affected families. He further urged the traders through out the country to donate at least their 2-day income as it could make a difference to some extend.
