Declining trend was seen on the currency market on Friday as a result of strong buying of dollars from different sides, dealers said. On the interbank market the rupee slid by three paisa at 85.65 against dollar for buying and it also shed four paisa at 85.70 for selling, money changers said.
In the final Asian trade dollar steadied against yen but stayed within reach of a 15-year trough hit last week, after weaker US data prompted investors to sell higher-yielding currencies and stocks on risk aversion. Indian rupee was trading at Rs 46.51 versus dollar, Malaysian ringgit was available at 3.1320 in terms of the US currency and Chinese yuan was trading at 6.7892 versus dollar.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee slipped in terms of dollar, shedding five paisa for buying and selling at 85.50 and 85.65, they said. The rupee maintained its surge against euro for buying and selling at Rs 108.53 and Rs 109.03, they added.

The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at Lahore currency market on Friday. According to dealers, the dollar was traded at overnight rates Rs 85.40 and Rs 85.60 on buying and selling sides, respectively. The pound declined to Rs 132.00 and Rs 133.00 on buying and selling counters as compared to Thursday's Rs 132.50 and Rs 133.50 respectively, dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee raised by 10 paisa against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 85.10 (buying) and 85.60 (selling) against the same last rate Rs 85.20 (buying) and 85.70 (selling). It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.10 (buying) and Rs 85.60 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 130.62 (buying) and Rs 132.66 (selling) against the previous rate of Rs 131.74 (buying) and Rs 133.80 (selling). It did not observe further change in the last trading hours and closed at Rs 130.62 (buying) and Rs 132.66 (selling).
UAE Dirham opened at Rs 23.16 (buying) and Rs 23.33 (selling) in the morning session against the last rate Rs 23.13 (buying) and Rs 23.32 (selling). The value of Dirham against the rupee remained unchanged in evening session and closed at Rs 23.16 (buying) and Rs 23.33 (selling).
