Shahzad Ahmed, Chairman All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) handed over a cheque of Rs 10 million to Federal Minister for Textile Industry, Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan for Prime Minister's Flood Relief Fund - 2010, during his visit with the minister to the flood affected areas of Muzaffargarh.
Shahzad assured the minister that the textile sector stands united behind the government of Pakistan in this hour of trial. He informed the minister that Aptma has been carrying out relief work for the flood victims across the country and so far distributed about 50 trucks of edible items and waterproof tents.
He expressed sorrow over the plight of flood affected people, uprooted from their homes by the devastating floods. He assured the minister that the textile industry would do everything in its power to help the government in its rescue and reconstruction efforts in the flood affected areas.
Reciprocating, Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan appreciated the generous donation from Aptma for Prime Minister's Flood Relief Fund - 2010 and their relief work for the rehabilitation of flood victims. He also appreciated the gesture and hospitality of textile millers located near the flood affected areas, who are providing space and shelter to the affectees.
Rana Farooq stressed for co-ordinated efforts to handle the grave and unprecedented situation. He said floods have inflicted widespread damage to infrastructure, electricity installations, roads, etc. He showed solidarity with the flood affectees and assured them that government would take all possible steps for their rehabilitation.-PR
