Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has appreciated the generous support provided by Karachiites towards the company's flood relief operation launched on August 11, and appealed for more help in cash, kind and voluntary work as the requirement is likely to increase in the coming days.
With the rise of water level and more so predicted during the remaining monsoon days, more donations and workforce would be needed to provide shelter, food and medical help to the displaced people, said a press release. Under its flood relief operation, KESC has set up five collection-points in Karachi and opened a dedicated bank account for cash donations. So far, its collection points in Karachi have dispatched 12 trucks carrying 2,500 family bags of food and other relief goods.
The company has established three care camps in Thatta where the employees, supported by volunteers from Karachi, are managing to provide shelter, food, drinking water, and daily use items to the displaced persons. About 80 KESC employees have been working at Thatta care camps. Other than the main base camp located in Thatta, two others are located at Monarki and Surjani. Medical Care is also being provided at the camps with the help of Aman Foundation.-PR
