South Asia Partnership Pakistan (SAP) has sought security from Punjab government for relief goods caravans dispatched to the flood affected areas. SAP and other civil society organisations have pointed out that incidents of looting relief goods are taking place one after another, making the relief work difficult. In this regard, they revealed that a SAP truck carrying flood relief goods including food items, water, medicines and cloths towards Rajanpur was looted near Union Council Baseera Addah District Muzaffargarh.
All efforts made to contact police proved useless, as there was no response from the concerned police stations. The statement added that the District Police Officer (DPO) claims to be helpless since various such events have occurred earlier. SAP urged Punjab government to immediately provide security to individual volunteers as well as NGOs to ensure smooth relief operations for the affectees.
