Pursuant to the directions of Punjab government, the College of Ophthalmology and Allied Vision Sciences, King Edward Medical University (KEMU) has sent six medical teams comprising experts from ophthalmology, social organisers and ophthalmic technicians to the flood affected areas of DG Khan, Muzaffargarh, Sadiqabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Jampur, Rajanpur, Kalabagh, Mianwali, Karor Lal Esan, District Layyah.
These teams will stay in the affected areas for one week and provide medical cover to the flood-affected areas. Professor Dr Asad Aslam Khan from College of Ophthalmology and Allied Vision Sciences said here on Friday that these teams would establish outreach camps in the flood-affected areas for treatment of eye diseases.
The teams would co-ordinate with district health management to establish free eye camps/outreach in the areas as per the needs identified. Professor Dr Aslam said the teams have been sent with the collaboration of Standard Chartered Bank and NGO 'Sight Savers', Islamabad. All the necessary medicines to provide eye care, at the community level, have also been dispatched with the teams.
