Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has issued orders for transfer of Dean of Institute of Public Health (IPH) Lahore Professor Dr Shakeela Zaman as OSD for dereliction duty and not playing effective role in Provincial Surveillance and Epidemic Response Cell. He directed Secretary Health to take strict departmental action against remaining officers and officials who were not discharging their duties.
It is worth mentioning that Shahbaz Sharif had constituted Provincial Surveillance and Epidemic Response Cell for checking epidemic diseases and providing immediate treatment facilities to the patients. IPH has an important role in connection with checking epidemic diseases but Punjab Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the organisation and directed to take strict action against the persons responsible.
Moreover, Secretary Health Fawad Hassan Fawad directed Convenor of Epidemic Surveillance and Response Cell Dr Junaid Qureshi epidemic disease specialist Dr Fahanda Kokab and Bacteriologist Dr Zarafshan Tahir to go in the flood-hit district and prepare a professional report within 48 hours.
