Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the flood-hit areas of Muzafargarh, Mehmoodkot, Shahjamal and Shehr Sultan on Saturday. This was stated in information of DGPR received here during the day. The CM inspected various relief camps and reviewed relief activities and medical facilities being provided to the affectees.
Addressing the affectees at various places, the Chief Minister said that if Pakistani nation displayed any negligence in rehabilitation of flood affectees, then history would never forgive them. He said that the existence of Pakistani nation believed in the rehabilitation of affectees and flood-hit areas and those people who were considering it the problem of only flood-hit areas and their residents had misunderstood.
Shahbaz said that he would not rest content till the rehabilitation of last person, and he himself would provide the assistance cheques to the affectees at their doorsteps for construction of their houses. He said that he was standing with them at this hour of distress and the masses particularly rulers should seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah on this natural calamity.
He directed to set up two more relief camps for the affectees of Mehmoodkot and immediate restoration of electricity in the relief camps set up at Turkwala and Budh Station. Taking strict notice of a complaint of affectees that the undeserving persons forcibly unload the relief items from trucks, the Chief Minister ordered the DPO Muzafargarh to take stern action against such persons and ensure provision of relief items to the deserving ones.
Ordering immediate suspension of DDOR on showing negligence in relief activities in Shehr Sultan, he said that no slackness would be tolerated in the relief activities and rehabilitation of affectees in this hour of trial. He directed DCO Muzafargarh to immediately complete the process of registration so that rehabilitation work could be started at the earliest. He appreciated the services of Afzal Khokhar for properly looking after and helping the flood affectees in Muzafargarh. Flood affectees at various places paid tributes to the untiring efforts of the Chief Minister.
