'PIA pilots to work round the clock to airlift relief material'

The Pakistan Airline Pilots' Association (Palpa) has announced that the pilots of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) would work round the clock to airlift relief material for the flood-hit people. This was announced by Captain Suhail Baluch, President of Palpa, at a pre-Iftar press conference here on Wednesday.
He said that the pilots of PIA are ready to work round the clock for the flood-hit Pakistanis. He also announced that the pilots would contribute their earning to the flood victims essentially coming from the flights operates to provide relief goods. He clarified that Palpa is committed for dedicated flights for bringing relief goods. However, the pilots would not compromise on safety standards on flights carrying passengers, he said.
Baluch said that PIA has a squadron of unutilised Boeing 747 that should be deployed for this purpose to accelerate the relief work and the pilots are ready to work tirelessly if dedicated flights for relief goods would be started. "Passengers' safety is supreme, and relief efforts should be separated from the routine passenger flights," he added. "We do not like to play politics at a time when the entire nation is suffering and expect that the PIA management would reciprocate our stand," the Palpa president said.
