52 people reportedly died due to epidemics in Jaffarabad. As relief activities by number of organisations continue Indus is in very high flood at Guddu and Sukkur flow at 783,000 and 867,000 cusecs respectively and in medium flood at Chashma-Taunsa with 436,000 and 437,000 cusecs.
After entrance of more flood tides from three sides into Jaffarabad, water level has risen by 13-15 feet as PDMA has confirmed displacement of 1.1 million people with 40 killed by flood and 52 other by breakout of gastro-enteritis, cholera and other waterborne diseases. Pakistan Army has established tent villages each at Dera Murad Jamali, Dera Allah Yar, including a Field Hospital at Dera Murad Jamali to provide cooked food and medical treatment to over 3000 marooned people.
Four helicopters, 16 boats and 2500 Jawans of Army are busy in evacuating flood-affected people from Kandha, Gari Karo and Goth Maggsi. Additional 10 boats and 10-truck load of relief goods have also been dispatched to Kandha.
Army has also shifted 450 flood victims at Sibbi and Dadhar, provided treatment to 20322 patients at Panu Aqil, 5750 patients at Kandhkot and distributed 4 tons of ration in various relief Camps.
Jawans have distributed food to more than 38,000 people at relief camps in Thatta, Tando Muhammad khan, Dadu, Matiari, Bhanote, Sakrand, Johi, Qambar Shdadkot, Qubo Saeed Khan, Jacobabad, Kashmore and rescued 17,000 people from Kashmore and Thatta.
The United Nations' World Food Programme (WFP) has mentioned to requirement of 40 additional heavy-lift helicopters to reach the huge number of people cut off from land assistance.
"We need more of these lifesavers," said WFP Pakistan Country Director Wolfgang Herbinger in a statement. "Helicopters are the only way to deliver supplies into many areas which is why we're already using every aircraft currently available to us."
Meanwhile, the first consignment of relief goods raised through private channels in Thailand has been received by NDMA including 1,100 blankets for children, over 350 litres of cooking oil and 1400 cartons containing condensed milk.
Kuwait has also announced to double the aid for flood affected people as stated by Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the United Nations, Ambassador Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi.
The donation value now shall be $10 million while a campaign will also be launched to collect donations from the public.
