Syed Muhammad Aasim Shah, a leader of Value Added Textile Forum (VTF), has said that Prime Minister and Foreign Minister should raise the slogan of "trade not aid" to draw the attention of world towards Pakistan which incurred a loss of 100 billion dollars in war against terror and 300 billion in recent floods.
Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, he said that Pakistan is passing through severe economic stress and stands at critical juncture in its history.
"Infrastructure has badly been damaged as 20 millions of people have been internally displaced, our cash crop of cotton is also badly damaged, we are seeking help from the rest of world to repair the damages caused by floods but as a self esteemed nation we should not completely rely on aids rather we should ask them to help us providing free market access to their markets for the revival of our economic and trade of our country which is badly effected by the floods," he said. He said: "We strongly appeal to our President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister that this is a best time to realise and convince the western countries on the current situation and to get the free market access for at least next 10 years."
