US soyabean futures on the Chicago Board of Trade closed mostly higher on Monday on brisk export demand and spillover from a rally in wheat, traders said. Additional support from concerns about dry weather; the eastern US Midwest had timely weekend rains but this week will be dry, a forecaster said. September soyabeans ended down 2-1/4 cents at $10.07 per bushel; most-active November up 1-1/2 at $10.05-1/2.
September soyameal up 60 cents at $301.40 per ton, most-active December up $1.80 at $294.90. September soyaoil down 0.27 cent at 39.25 cents per lb; most-active December down 0.27 at 39.82 cents. Commodity funds bought 3,000 soyabean contracts, 1,000 soyameal and sold 1,000 soyaoil, traders said. USDA confirmed sales of 108,000 tonnes US soyabeans to Mexico and 105,000 tonnes to unknown for 2010/11. USDA reported export inspections of US soyabeans in the latest week at 11.745 million bushels, at the high end of trade estimates for 9 million to 12 million.
