Taiwan stocks fell 0.44 percent on Tuesday as slides in US chipmakers sparked concerns about the health of their Taiwanese peers and suppliers like UMC. The main TAIEX closed down 35.29 points to 7,940.64, weighed by a 0.56 percent fall of electronics shares.
Chimei Innolux sank 1.1 percent. Taiwan's biggest LCD panel maker sued Sony for infringing on patents used in PlayStations 3 video game consoles, televisions, computer notebooks and cameras.
