Singapore Telecommunications named Hui Weng Cheong, currently the Chief Operating Officer of its Thai associate Advanced Info Service, as CEO designate for its international operation. Hui, 55, will be in charge of SingTel's overseas investments which includes a 32 percent stake in India's largest mobile phone operator Bharti and 35 percent in Indonesia's Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel).
"He will formally assume the role on 1 December 2010, succeeding Lim Chuan Poh who is retiring from the Group," the Southeast Asia's biggest telco said in a statement.
