Islamic Development Bank (IDB) mission here on Wednesday discussed three-year work programme 2011 to 2014 between IDB and Pakistan. An IDB delegation headed by its Manager for West and Southeast Asia Division Ahmed Saleh is visiting Pakistan to participate in the relief efforts.
A statement issued by the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) said the mission also discussed upcoming recovery projects for the victims of the recent floods. The mission met with government officials in EAD, NDMA, Wapda as well as with the UNDP and similar MDBs, such as the World Bank and ADB.
Islamic Development Bank has a cumulative commitment of $5.7 billion projects and trade related financing activities in various sectors such as infrastructures, energy, transport, social sector including health and education and industry. The Board of Executive Directors of IDB has recently approved $1.2 million grant for the immediate relief efforts and $10 million for early recovery of damaged infrastructure. Islamic Development Bank will join other MDBs in the reconstruction phase after the DNA is completed.
