Vice Chairman All Pakistan LPG Distributors Pakistan (Registered) Attique Khan has announced disassociation from the strike call of August 31 given by the Chairman LPG Distributors Irfan Khokar. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, he said the group that gave the strike call has its personal agenda and alleged they were not a registered body either.
He said PARCO has been closed because of the flood condition in the country. In addition to this, he said the roads of Mahmoodkot have also been washed away and there are no means of transportation. "We appeal to the government of Pakistan to direct the relevant authorities to urgently rebuild the roads of Mehmoodkot, as the damage is causing extreme problems in the transportation of LPG," he added.
Khan urged the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to decide a uniform rate of LPG to curb black marketing. He also urged the government to direct the authorities to extract 700 tons of LPG on a daily basis from different fields in the country to ensure self-sufficiency.
He expressed gratitude to the private companies that arranged 13,000 tons of LPG for Pakistan. Out of this 5,000 tons have already reached Karachi, said Khan and added this would greatly help in balancing the demand and supply of LPG in the country. On the other hand, Irfan Khokar while talking to Business Recorder maintained that if the LPG Policy 2006 were not implemented, a complete strike on August 31 would be observed. He alleged some distribution companies of black marketing the fuel. He also said neither OGRA, nor government has taken any action against them.
