NGOs should actively take part in the rehabilitation of flood-affected people. They should prioritise the provision of basic facilities like education, healthcare and shelter to the displaced people. The Punjab government will provide support to such NGOs in their relief operation. This was stated by Political Adviser to CM, Saba Sadiq while presiding over a meeting of NGOs at DCO office.
At the outset of the meeting, Saba Sadiq said that Pakistan is going through a critical moment of its history as the flash floods have wreaked havoc with the lives and properties of millions of people, adding that the NGOs should play a proactive role in this situation by providing necessary support and assistance. Joint co-operation of government and the NGOs will boost-up the rehabilitation of the people, she added. She further said that NGOs should distribute relief goods in registered camps so that genuine persons could benefit from it.
Later, Saba Sadiq visited Makhan Bela area of tehsil Jatoi in Muzaffargarh and distributed 350 family bags containing dry ration, clothes and other necessary items of daily use among the affectees. She assured full co-operation to them and said that their rehabilitation is a top priority agenda.
