Abduction of president of Barkat market: traders give 72-hour deadline to government
Traders have given 72 hours deadline to government for the recovery of abducted President of Barkat Market, Amir Malik, who is also a close relative of officer of an intelligence agency. Muhammad Fayaz Chaudhry, President Wahdat Road Board along with Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Khwaja Azhar Gulshan, Mehboob Sirki and other representatives of traders associations raised this demand in press conference held here on Saturday.
The traders association asked the government to ensure security of traders and take concrete steps to avoid further incidents. Muhammad Fayaz warned the government of province wide strike in case it fails to recover Amir Malik. Renowned traders' leader Khwaja Azhar Gulshan said the civil disobedience movement would be launched if government remains unable to recover Amir Malik, who is missing for the last four days. He further criticised the Punjab government for its incompetence.
Naseem Ahmed, brother of Amir Malik, urged the Chief Minister Punjab and Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the issue and ensure recovery of his brother. He said Amir Malik had no political affiliation. Mehboob Sirki said the whole traders' community was under grip of fear after abduction of Amir Malik. He urged the government to recover Amir Malik as quickly as possible.
