Pakistan Muslim League-Q senior leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said that Pakistan is caught amid unprecedented disasters because of the rulers' misdoing and the nation should pray for Allah's mercy in these testing times. He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of Dawat-e-Islami at his residence in Lahore on Saturday.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi praised the services of Ameer Ahl-e-Sunnat, Pakistan and requested him to offer special prayers during the holy month of Ramzan for early riddance of the nations' present hardships. He said the recent floods had brought unprecedented miseries and hardships for over 20 million Pakistanis. The people have lost everything to the gushing floods including their homes, cattle, valuables and thousands of loved ones, he added.
He briefed the visiting delegation about the relief efforts being carried out by PML-Q in the flood-affected areas including provision of tents, food items, medicines, stoves, utensils, matchboxes and clothes to the unfortunate flood victims.
Commenting on lack of people's faith in present rulers, he said the PML government was able to raise Rs 420 million in one night for the 2005 earthquake Pakistan victims with an overwhelming public support, apart from sending over 500,000 tents, huge supplies of medicines and other required assistance to the quake-hit, while this time round, people were extremely reluctant to respond to the rulers' calls for donations.
"When people lose faith in rulers, they have no moral grounds to forcibly thrust themselves on them", said Elahi. He lauded the relief efforts of Dawat-e-Islami during the recent floods. The visiting Dawat-e-Islami delegation comprised of Abdul Habib Attari, Mohammad Farooq Attari, Mohammad Nadeem Attari, Khawaja Junaid Attari and Haji Khalid Attari.
