The Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation (DGI&I), FBR, Karachi, on Saturday foiled a bid to smuggle some 30,000 litres of Iranian diesel at Northern Bypass, Business Recorder learnt on Saturday. According to sources, the action was taken on a tipoff, which said that unscrupulous persons were busy in transporting smuggled Iranian diesel through oil tanker to sell the commodity at Karachi.
Responding on said information, the staff of DGI&I intercepted the oil tanker at Northern bypass and seized some 30,000 litres of Iranian diesel, worth over Rs 4 million in the international market. They said the staff of DGI&I arrested oil tanker driver and his accomplices and took the tanker, loaded with 30,000 litres of diesel, in custody, which would be deposited in customs warehouse.
