The Chief Justice of Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought reply from federal sports secretary by September 7 in a petition seeking strict action against Pakistani cricket players for their involvement in match fixing scandal. The petition was filed by a citizen Shakil Ahmad through Advocate Chaudhry Ishtiaq Ahmad submitting that Pakistani players by indulging in match fixing had tarnished the image of the country.
He said these players have seriously damaged the reputation of Pakistani players in the world of cricket and deserved severe punishment. The petitioner-lawyer prayed to the court to order registration of criminal cases against the players and also impose a life ban on them. The counsel further prayed that properties of these players be confiscated if allegations of match fixing were proved against them and they be prosecuted under Article 6 of the Constitution for committing high treason.
