Iranian Interior Minister, Mostafa Mohammad Najjar has requested Islamic world to come forward and help people of Pakistan in these testing times. "I request the Islamic world to contribute generously for flood affected people of Pakistan and help them to return their homes", he said while talking to the media after his meeting with Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik on Friday.
Najjar who arrived in Islamabad as a special envoy of President of Iran Mehmud Ahmadinejad called on Rehman Malik at the Interior Ministry, and discussed the flood situation at length. The Iranian Minister assured full support to Pakistan in meeting the challenge of the rehabilitation of the flood affected people, saying that Iranian government will send 10 more cargo planes carrying relief goods for the flood-hit people of Pakistan. The planes carrying food, medicine, blankets, tents, and other essential commodities are ready to be delivered and just waiting for clearance at airports, he added.
"Iran is one of the three countries to send the greatest amount of relief aid to the flood-hit people of Pakistan", he said. Iran has sent more than 200 tons of aid for the flood-ravaged people so far. The Iranian government is committed to rehabilitate flood-affected people, he added.
Malik expressed his gratitude to Iranian President, Interior Minister and people of Iran for their support and contributions for flood affected people of Pakistan. During the visit, Najjar had aerial view of flood affected areas of Kyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
