All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) is all set to hold annual elections on Monday (tomorrow). As many as 182 members of mills' representatives would cast their votes to elect members of Zonal Managing Committee (ZMC) for 2010-11. Further, zonal elections in Sindh would take place on the same date besides the elections of Central Managing Committee (CMC).
However, there would be no elections for NWFP zone, as only one candidate Mohsin Aziz from the Businessmen Council is already elected unopposed. Similarly, there would be no election of zonal chairman and vice chairman in Punjab as candidates of the Businessmen Council have been declared elected unopposed.
Nomination papers of the opponents were rejected. It may be noted that the both the Monnoo Group and the Businessmen Council have not announced their candidates for the office of Central Chairman. However, there is a general perception that Shehzad Salim from Monnoo Group and Gohar Ejaz from the Businessmen Council would be contest for the office of Central Chairman on September 17th meeting of Central Executive Committee.
