Government College University (GCU) students were in the spotlight during the announcement of the results of the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) annual examinations for intermediate classes (11 and 12) on Saturday. GCU student Muhammad Ali Aun topped the results in all groups.
GCU students grabbed the top two positions of the pre-medical, one position in pre-engineering group, two positions in general science group and all three positions of Humanities (boys) group. Of the total 141467 students who appeared in the exams, 73501 passed, bringing the pass percentage to 51.96, while the last year's percentage was 51.54 percent.
The results were announced at a ceremony organised by the BISE. Chairman Lahore Board was the chief guest while Controller of Examinations Professor Manzurul Hassan Niazi was also present at the ceremony. The top three position holders of all groups were given cash awards and medals. Those who stood first in their groups were given Rs 20,000 and a gold medal, those coming second got Rs 15,000 and a silver medal, those coming third were given Rs 10,000 and a bronze medal. While the overall topper was given Rs 20,000 gold medal and Pentium 4 computer.
According to the Result Gazette the overall topper was GCU's Muhammad Ali Aun who got 1041 marks out of 1100, Samran Asim of GCU was second with 1031 marks. KIPS Intermediate College Johar Town student Maryam was third with 1030 marks. In Pre -medical boys Muhammad Ali Aun of GCU was first with 1041 marks, Samran Asim of GCU second with 1031 marks, while third position was shared by three students Noman Khadim of Punjab College of Science, GCU's Muhammad Junaid Alvi and Rana Adil Farman by securing 1020 marks each.
In Pre-medical girls Maryam of Kips Intermediate College Johar Town stood first with 1030 marks, while second position was shared by two students of Government Kinnaird College for Women Izzah Javed and Maryam Afzal by securing 1029 marks. Afra Ahmad of Government Kinnaird College for Women stood third with 1026 marks.
In Pre-engineering boys Hassan Iftikhar of Forman Christian College University (FCU) got first position by securing 1021 marks, while second position was shared by three students Muhammad Unmar of GCU, Saqib Muhammad of Sufa Educational Complex Higher Secondary (Boys) Ayub Park Okara and Hammad Shakil of FCU by securing 1020 marks each.
Saud Ahmed of Superior College for Boys Jawad Avenue stood third with 1019 marks. In Pre-engineering girls first position was shred by two students Sumaiyya Farooq of Lahore College For Women University (LCWU) Jail Road Lahore and Hafiza Sidra Iaqbal of District Public School and College for Girls Officers Colony Kasur by securing 1012 marks. Maryam Aslam of LCWU Lahore stood second with 1010 marks. Third position was shared by two students of Punjab College for Women Muslim Town Lahore by securing 1009 marks.
General Science boys Muhammad Usman of Punjab College of IT Muslim Town got fist position by securing 972 marks, while Bilal Fayyaz of GCU stood second with 962 marks and Ahmed Manzoor of GCU stood third 956 marks. In General Science girls Marhaba Nemat of Government Kinnaird College For Women stood first with 1010 marks, Zohaa Qamar of Punjab College For Women Muslim Town second with 995 and Sadia Yaqoob of the same college stood third with 988 marks.
In Commerce group boys Mohsin Ibrar a private candidate got first position by securing 953 marks. While a student of Superior College of IT and Management Garden Town Lahore Jehanzeb stood second with 952 marks. Adnan Ali of Peak Solution College of IT Ghazi Road Lahore Cant stood third with 938 marks.
In Commerce group girls Shahnaz Bashir of Superior College For Women Jawad Avenue Okara got first position by securing 973 marks, while the student of the same collage Bushra Anwar stood second with 966 marks. Third position was begged by Sidra Karamat of Ravi College For Women Baghbanpura Lahore by securing 962 marks.
In Humanities boys all the three positions were begged by the students of GCU Lahore. Mubarik Amjad stood first with 957 marks, Imtiaz Afzal stood second with 944 marks and Hafiz Aitzaz Ahsan with 926 marks. In Humanities girls Shazmah Najam a private candidate stood first with 962 marks, while Mehwish Iram of Government Degree College For Women Kot Radha Kishan Kasur stood second with 953 marks. Mahek Tanveer of Hazarat Ayesha Siddiqah Model College for Women Nichelson Road Lahore got third position by securing 943 marks.
