Power breakdowns kept on testing consumers' patience during last 24 hours as power shortfall reached the alarming level of 2,000MWs. Repeated breakdowns irked the consumers at large and the treasury and opposition benches in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly strongly protested against the massive and unannounced load shedding across the province.
Outraged members demanded removal of federal minister for water and power for his failure to handle Wapda's affairs. The House also condemned an attack by a rowdy mob on the hujra of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker, Karamatullah Chagharmati to protest against load shedding. The members termed the attack deplorable as they said that Wapda was responsible for load-shedding and not the assembly members.
Power generation remained 14222MW against a demand of 1,6208MW with hydel and thermal generations of 6550MW and 2,156MW respectively. Power generation through IPPs and RPPs stood at 5,454MW and 62MW accordingly. Power supply to the KESC remained 730MW.
