An emergency meeting of Inland Revenue Audit Officers Association (IRAOA) was held here on Sunday to devise a strategy to deal with the issue of prolonged delay in issuance of notification for the upgradation of Inland Revenue Audit Officers' posts.
Sources told Business Recorder here on Sunday that hundreds of sales tax and federal excise auditors of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) gathered here under the chairmanship of President Afzal Malik to discuss the issue of upgradation of Inland Revenue Audit officer posts.
The representatives of auditors' community from Large Taxpayer Units and Regional Tax Offices and other reformed units attended the meeting. Auditors and senior auditors showed serious concerns over undue delay in upgradation notification. They demanded of the Secretary Establishment/ Finance to issue notification of upgradation of Inland Revenue Audit Officer immediately. Auditors and senior auditors thanked the FBR chairman and top management of FBR on the onward submission of summary of upgradation of IRAOA.
They assured the chairman FBR for their full support. President of the auditors association also advised all Audit Officers to work hard for the achievement of revenue targets at any cost so that the government may be able to support flood victims accordingly. At the end two resolutions were unanimously passed.
They demand for the posting of remaining Inland Revenue Audit Officers as Unit Incharge or independent assignment may be given and all IRAO are reporting to Additional Commissioners as per law. The Board has already issued instructions and in some RTOs/LTUs the said order is not being implemented. No Audit Officer is posted under any ACIT/DCIT in any RTO/LTU. Implementation of the Board's instructions/order is immediately demanded through this resolution and discrimination /disparity will be viewed very seriously.
The auditors also passed this resolution unanimously in support of upgradation of the post of Inland Revenue Audit Officer.
