Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif went to the memorial of the martyrs of September war in Batapur on Monday and laid floral wreaths on the graves. Special prayers were offered on this occasion for the martyrs as well as solidarity and prosperity of the country, disclosed an official. Expressing his views on the occasion, the CM said September 6 is a milestone in the national history and reminds the nation of those martyrs and 'ghazis' who laid down their lives in defence of their country.
He further said the jawans of Pak Army added a new chapter in the national history by their courage and bravery. District Co-ordination Officer Lahore Sajjad Bhutta, officers of Pak Army and Rangers as well as families of the martyrs were also present on the occasion. Later in the day, MPA Rana Muhammad Iqbal called on the Chief Minister and presented a cheque of Rs. 650,000 for relief and rehabilitation of the flood affectees.
