The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led Punjab government is not only utilising its resources but also providing food and other relief items to calamity stricken people with the co-operation of philanthropists and well-to-do segments of the society.
This was stated by Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa while chairing a party meeting held to review the ongoing relief activities in flood hit districts of the province. Mian Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Mian Marghoob Ahmad, Anousha Rehman, Advisor to Chief Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Mansha Ullah Butt, Chairman Task Force Kh. Ahmad Hassan, Deputy Speaker Rana Mashood Ahmad, Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal, Director General Relief, Secretary Higher Education, Secretary School and other senior officers were also present on this occasion.
Khosa said that Eid gifts would also be given to the children in relief camps. He said that Members of National and Provincial Assemblies, political leaders, high-ranking government officers will distribute Eid gifts and celebrate their Eid with flood affectees. He said that Assembly Members and Co-ordinators have been deputed by PML-N in various districts.
He said that rehabilitation of flood affectees is the top priority of PML-N government. He added that government is with flood affectees in their time of need and elected representatives and PML-N workers are actively participating in the relief activities in flood-affected areas.
Anousha Rehman while giving details of relief activities informed the meeting that 178 trucks of relief items have been sent to flood hit districts by PML-N. Out of 178 trucks, 73 trucks have been sent to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 30 trucks to Balochistan and 55 trucks have so far been sent to Sindh.
The meeting was further informed 100,000 packets of readymade garment will be distributed among the children and 50,000 packets of cloths would be given to elders on Eid. DG relief briefed the meeting that 40,000 tents have so far been distributed among the affectees out of which 3000 each have been given to Muzaffargarh and 8,000 each to Hazara and D.G Khan. He said that relief activities are being carried out in flood hit areas on war footing basis.
