Like other countries, Bangladesh Government also shared its contribution of helping the flood affected people of Pakistan by sending a 40-member medical team who arrived here on Monday night to provide healthcare facility to flood victims of Dadu district.
The medical team led by Dr Khan Abul Kalam Azad Professor of Medicine of Dhaka Medical College comprising 25 male and two lady doctors and 13 paramedics including two staff nurses also brought 54 tons of medicines of different diseases amounting to 45 million Taka.
"We came here to serve the people of Pakistan in this tragic moments when millions of people have been displaced and taken shelter in the camps and many of them suffering different kinds of diseases, said Dr Khan Abul Kalam Azad while talking to APP before proceeding to Dadu where floodwater playing havoc and forcing the people to shift safer places.
Dr Khan said that Bangladesh is not a rich country, however, whatever possible the Government of Bangladesh is providing to help their Pakistani brothers. We have specialists and qualified medics and paramedics of different diseases including diarrhea, gastrointestinal, malaria, skin and gynaecological diseases, he said.
The Director General Health Services Sindh Dr Ghulam Sarwar Channa, who was also present to see off the Bangladeshi medical team to Dadu, highly praised the role of Bangladesh Government for sending medical team for aiding people in flood affected areas.
