Vice-Chancellor Punjab University Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran has stated that the varsity teachers and students relief teams have so far distributed dry ration worth Rs 10.040 million among 6750 flood-affected families in addition to extending medical treatment to 2050 patients of Rajanpur and Muzaffargarh districts of the province.
He was presiding over a largely attended meeting of PU Flood Relief Committee members in his office committee room here on Wednesday. The Vice-Chancellor said the varsity faculty staff and student community has mounted a major relief drive for the provision of much-needed relief and succour to the worst affectees of Southern Punjab.
He said in the past the varsity teaching and student fraternity has already rendered unforgettable sacrifices and services right at the doorsteps of calamity stricken brethren during 2005 Azad Kashmir earthquake and IDPs of Swat operation. Dr Kamran remarked the PU teachers and students have written a new chapter of selfless human service and sacrifice by providing dry ration and healthcare facilities to the affected families of Rajanpur and Muzaffargarh districts, while fasting during the holy month of Ramazan.
