Acting Chairman of the Football Association Roger Burden has expressed deep condolence on massive loss of lives and colossal damage to properties and infrastructure due to floods in Pakistan and assured humanitarian aid to help deal with the disaster.
In a letter addressed to Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)'s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, Roger said: "Our thoughts are with you and especially the families, friends and loved ones of those lost in this tragedy. Please do not hesitate to contact me should the FA be able to assist you in any way."
It may be noted that the Football Association, also known as simply The FA, is a governing body of association football in England and the Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. It was formed in 1863, and is the oldest national football association.
Roger further said: "I have been following news of the horrendous tragedy in your country and would like to express my deep sympathy to the Pakistani people and affected families." "I understand that Pakistan's football infrastructure has also been affected and, while addressing the immediate needs of the 20 million people requiring humanitarian assistance is a priority, please be assured that The Football Association is ready to support your efforts to rebuild the game in your country," added Roger. The PFF Chief praised Roger's gesture and said it will never be forgotten. He hoped that Roger's experience of running the game in Gloucestershire will help him in his new national role.
