The Government of People's Republic of China will provide an additional relief assistance of dollars 30 million in next few days for flood affectees of Pakistan. "It will bring total aid to flood affectees to dollars 50 million," Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan, Liu Jian, said during a visit to a field hospital run by the Chinese at Makli in Thatta District on Thursday.
He said the assistance to the flood victims would continue over the passage of time. "Assistance so far is at the initial stage, we are not stopping here and will do more," he said while talking to media. The Ambassador said it was his first visit to Thatta District and the purpose was to get firsthand knowledge about the arrangements made for the flood victims by Chinese doctors at the medical camp.
After getting a briefing from Chinese doctors, he expressed his overall satisfaction over the security arrangements and the support provided by local administration and area people to the staff of field hospital. Ambassador Liu Jian said the field hospital became operational two weeks ago with a staff of 60 including 22 male and 14 female doctors and added that so far 8,000 patients were treated at the hospital.
He stated that another batch of doctors from Republic's Army Corps was also due to arrive very soon and added that Chinese provinces which had brotherhood partnership with their counterparts in Pakistan were also providing aid for the flood affectees. The Chinese government was also studying the post-rescue mission in Pakistan, which means rehabilitation of millions of displaced people.
