Pakistan is reeling from the brutal ever-massive floods. Millions are living at the roadsides and their homes and villages have been washed away and completely destroyed. This devastation is still continuing. The current floods have surpassed all the previous such calamities in terms of destruction and financial losses. It requires an effort in real terms to help out the victims stand on their feet. The rehabilitation process is always slow and it would take years to do that.
The Bank of Punjab as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility is associated with this task of extending help and support to the flood-affected people of Pakistan and the Government, both Provincial and Federal from the day one. As a first step the Bank opened special counters to accept donations throughout its branch network by opening separate counters and putting in advertisements in the printed media to facilitate the people who want to be a part of this rehabilitation in financial terms.
Now that the blessed month of Ramadan has reached its end and the festivity of Eid is coming in a couple of days. There is no hope for the people who have suffered heavily and are left alone under the open sky suffering from unexpected diseases and are wondering what their future will be in coming days.
The Management of the Bank has decided to spend this day of Eid in its true spirit with flood victims. Islam also preaches us to spend all such moments of happiness sharing joy together. An Eid camp will be established for two days at Rahim Yar Khan where the Management of the Bank will spend the Eid days with the flood victims. Food will be provided to over 3,000 people on daily basis. Special Gift Hampers have been prepared containing Shalwar Qameez, Dry Fruits, Sugar, Sweets etc which will be distributed among 2,000 men, women, boys and girls.
Meanwhile 6 Trucks are already on way to Rahim Yar Khan and Layyah having packets containing essential food items for distribution among the victim families. This is the least the Bank can do at the need of hour and when it really matters. The Bank and its Management remains committed to the Progress and Prosperity of the People of Pakistan in all times to come.
