Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have finalised the special traffic deployment for 'Chand Raat' and 'Eidul Fitr' and extra duties to ITP personnel have been assigned in markets, shopping areas, mosques and public parks to maintain the smooth traffic flow for facilitation of general public.
Besides, deployment of ITP personnel in markets and other places special mobile squads would also be deployed to ensure the unhindered flow of traffic in the capital on the eve of Eid, said Dr Moeen Massod, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic here on Thursday.
Dr Moeen Masood said that a comprehensive deployment programme of ITP personnel have been chaked out for "Chand Raat and Eid ul Fitr" covering all the markets, shopping areas apart from special moving squads to control the traffic and to facilitate the general public.
SSP Traffic Dr Moeen Massod said that action would be taken against the miscreants who violate traffic laws and create hindrance in smooth flow of traffic on "Chand Raat". Parking duties at mosques will also be assigned to facilitate the general public coming for Eid prayer and ITP personnel will also be deployed at Public Parks, he added.
He urged that the citizens should behave in civilised manner and not to cause hindrances in traffic flow and should maintain road discipline. SSP Traffic directed the staffer to ensure zero tolerance and do not misbehave with the general public to enforce traffic laws with politeness but firmness.
Meanwhile, Farhat Abbas Kazmi, Superintendent of Police (Traffic) has said that the driving school of the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) is producing well-trained drivers by imparted them education about traffic rules but by polishing their driving skills during the learning period of the course.
These trained drivers are asset and they can help in attracting others to follow traffic rules, the SP said while addressing the passing out students of 60th batch of ITP's driving school. The SP was informed that as many as 7684 students including 2058 females have passed out from the ITP driving school since its inception on January 28, 2006. Not only driving tips but also the awareness about the motor engine is given to the student during this course.
He urged the passing out candidates to take care of other rights especially of pedestrian and avoid violation of traffic rules as well as using mobile phone in driving. He said that traffic accident could be controlled by the responsible driving attitude and observance of traffic rules.
Those passing out from this school would follow traffic rules and help traffic police in ensuring safe road environment in the city, he hoped. He emphasised to fasten seat belts during drive, saying such safety tips before coming on the roads ensure safety not only for the driver himself but also others. "Islamabad can be made an accident free city if every road user starts following the traffic rules and take care of others' rights," he added.
