The Computer and Information Technology (CIT) sector has played commendable role in providing relief to flood affectees throughout Pakistan. However, more co-ordinated work would be the outreach of the industry to maximum number of effectees. According to an announcement of the Pakistan Computer Association (PCA) here on Thursday, the representatives of Computer and IT (CIT) industry and multinational companies underlined this during a special Iftar gathering hosted by HP Pakistan.
Arshad Arain, Partner Business Manager HP and Munawar Iqbal, Central President of Pakistan Computer Association (PCA) briefed the participants about recent relief efforts being made by the IT and Computer industry. They urged the participants that to present their suggestions to strengthen relief work by more co-ordinated efforts. Arshad Arain said that HP International has already announced one million US dollar aid for the flood effectees of Pakistan and assured the participants that HP would play significant role in relief and rehabilitation efforts as well. He termed the role of PCA instrumental for a better co-ordination among stakeholders and said that his company would keep facilitating local computer industry for the collective betterment of the sector.
Munawar Iqbal said that Computer and IT industry has played a remarkable role while collecting donations and relief goods for the flood effectees. However, he said, the industry is eager to contribute further and efforts are being made to evolve a better strategy for increased outreach to the effectees. The president of the PCA also highlighted the role of the body on the occasion for the overall uplift of the sector and emphasised that local industry and international partners need to enhance mutual co-operation for the overall growth of the sector.
