Islamabad police ensured foolproof security arrangements on the eve of Eidul Fitr in Capital by making round the clock vigilance and patrolling to protect lives and property of the citizens. The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Islamabad Police personnel held effective patrolling in the city to avoid any untoward incident and officials and officers of Police and ATS remained alert, said a spokesman of Islamabad Police on Monday.
He said that more than 2,500 policemen were deputed in various sectors and residential areas of Islamabad to ensure protection to the property of the citizens who left for their homes to celebrate Eid with their near and dear ones. Strict security was observed at Eid Congregations and also at Faisal Mosque where thousands of people including Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani offered Eid prayer, he added.
Following the slogan of friendly policing, policemen extended Eid greetings to the citizens at the police pickets and ensured strict checking without any inconvenience to the citizens, he said, adding that special traffic arrangements were also made to ensure smooth flow of traffic especially on Chand Raat in Islamabad. Following the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Kaleem Imam, the SSP (Operations) Tahir Alam Khan and SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood were supervising the security arrangements and visited the areas to resolve the problems of the citizens.
IGP Islamabad Kaleem Imam visited Islamabad Traffic Police offices and greeted the staff and also had a lunch with them there. SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan visited Rescue 15 and Industrial area police station for giving Eid congratulations to the policemen on duty while each SP met with their staff at his respective police station. To muster up the courage of the force and boosting its morale, he visited the various pickets including Radio Pakistan Chowk, Nadra Chowk, Islamabad Club, Adventure Inn, Chand Tara Chowk, Faizabad and extended Eid greeting to the duty officers and jawans.
SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam reviewed arrangements as per security plan chalked out earlier and issued directions to make patrolling more effective in the Capital and continuity of strict security arrangements in Capital. IGP has expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements throughout the city and appreciated the performance of all policemen for ensuring peace and remaining vigilant.
He hoped the similar performance from them in future and continuity of effective arrangements to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens. The IGP said that moments of Eid are very sensitive for those who are far away from their near and dear ones at this cheerful occasion. "I can feel that it is very difficult for policemen to remain away from their children, parents, brothers, sisters and relatives at this glad occasion. However, it is in our duty to protect the country and serve the people. For the integrity of the country and protection to the lives and property of the citizens, our policemen can sacrifice everything," he maintained.
