A dacoit was killed in an encounter with police in Ahsanabad in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station on Monday night, police sources said. Sohrab Goth Station House Officer (SHO) told Business Recorder that a police party was patrolling in the area when a caller, Nasir Ali Baig son of Ahmed Ali Baig, informed them of the presence of four dacoits in his house No D-162, Sector I, Ahsanabad, Gulshan-e-Maymar.
The police party reached the spot and a brief encounter ensued to rescue the residents. As a result, one of the four dacoits was killed while his three accomplices managed to flee from the spot. The body of the dacoit was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy. The dacoity bid was foiled. The deceased could not be identified till filing this report.
In another incident, a picnicker was drowned in the sea while bathing in the deep at Hawkes Bay point. The deceased was identified as Faraz, 20, son of Waheed. The body of the deceased was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for post mortem. The deceased was resident of North Karachi, Khameso Goth.
