Major stock markets outside the United States ended on Wednesday
FRANKFURT STOCKS EXCHANGE: The DAX index ended at 6261.87 points, down 13.54 or 0.22 percent.
PARIS STOCKS EXCHANGE: The CAC-40 index closed at 3755.64 points, down 18.76 or 0.50 percent.
ZURICH STOCKS EXCHANGE: The Swiss market index closed at 6434.01 points, down 32.31 or 0.50 percent.
MILAN STOCKS EXCHANGE: The FT IT All Share index closed at 21415.83 points, down 129.03 or 0.60 percent.
SYDNEY STOCKS EXCHANGE: Australian shares rose 0.8 percent, to their highest in four and a half months with a strong Australian dollar adding to the positive sentiment towards the country. The S&P/ASX 200 index rose 35.04 points to 4,661.50, to its highest close since May 5.
JOHANNESBURG STOCKS EXCHANGE: Stocks in Africa's biggest economy snapped a 5-day win streak with miner AngloGold Ashanti and furniture maker Steinhoff both tumbling more than two percent on news of share dilution.
The All-share index closed at 28502.08 points, down 0.11 or 0.00 percent. The All Gold index closed at 2559.1 points, down 88.38 or 3.34 percent, while the Industrial index closed at 23824.72 points, up 65.75 or 0.28 percent.
