KARACHI: In a language that evolved from an amalgamation of Farsi, Arabic and Sanskrit; Urdu is one of the few scripts in the world, which has graced the courtyards of nobility as well as seeped into the homes of commoners, always agile and able to adapt to its surroundings but along the way also conscious of its stature and refinement.

Sought by literary doyens for the versatility of thought and the depth of expression it was able to provide, RANG is thus an evening, which pays homage to its glory using music and performance poetry. Expressions that have and will further embed the language into our consciousness.

Rang will be held The Junction - Al Serkal Avenue, Dubai on 18th November 2017.

UBP Social celebrates the 2 million plus Pakistani expatriate community within the country. Its aim is to bring together the Pakistanis living here by promoting their initiatives within the region and internationally, as well as to connect them with other expat communities across the world where they can be recognised and/or collaborate with, so as to put forth a more progressive and positive image of Pakistan. Our goal, therefore, is to simply amplify the Pakistani narrative by giving it more strength with a people-to-people connect and build on those resources.

QISSA’ GO - The art of weaving a tale is as ancient as time itself and much like in the rest of the world, oral storytelling has been known by many names. Within the walled cities of Delhi to the Qissa Khwani bazaar of Peshawar to the crossing that binds the Grand Trunk road to Kabul, of the many monikers’ it acquired within a region as diverse, is one in Urdu called, QISSA GO.

Qissa’ Go is thus a theatre-based collective, which is focused on the preservation, promotion, and celebration of South Asian languages and literature at its core. We are storytellers, who have taken upon themselves to continue weaving this fabric, which binds centuries of literary traditions and the flair of a spell-binding magician, to hold the attention of our audience, whilst simultaneously connecting with audio and visual media content on our digital platforms.

MASTAM featuring Schumaila Rehmat Hussain and Faraz Rizvi, is a husband-wife duo re-introducing a unique fusion of guitars and poetry in the Pakistani music industry. Vocally trained by the virtuoso-musician, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, Schumaila Hussain, hails from Islamabad and has a repertoire that stocks original sound tracks for television dramas in Pakistan such as “Muntazir”, “Khamoshi” and “Muqabil”, jingles, as well as performances at concerts within the country and in the United States.
